Nanhe Kadam Abhiyan – Setu Kendra

Government schools generally begin around 9:30 AM, but many children from the Musahar community and other underserved families face challenges in beginning the school day prepared and confident.

Under Nanhe Kadam Abhiyan, Nayee Asha operates community-based Setu Kendras that provide free, supervised learning sessions before regular school hours. A typical local schedule may run from approximately 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, subject to each centre’s timetable.

Nayee Asha teachers and volunteers help children through foundational reading, writing, numeracy, schoolwork support and regular encouragement.

The programme helps children: - develop consistent learning habits; - strengthen foundational learning; - receive homework and schoolwork guidance; - build confidence before entering the classroom; - understand the importance of regular school attendance; - remain connected with formal education; - prepare for school enrolment or re-enrolment where needed.

Setu Kendra does not replace formal schooling.

It acts as a bridge between the child’s home, the community-learning environment and the formal classroom.

Rooted in Nayee Asha’s work with children from the Musahar community, the programme may also welcome other underserved children in the area according to need and centre capacity.
