A women-focused programme combining foundational literacy with practical tailoring and stitching skills.
About the Programme
Silai Sah Padhai Kendra is designed primarily for women and adolescent girls who had limited or no opportunity to attend formal school.
The programme combines foundational education with practical skill development in one supportive community environment.
Participants may receive help in: - basic reading; - basic writing; - everyday numeracy; - signature practice; - form filling; - understanding common documents; - useful financial and daily-life literacy.
Alongside literacy learning, participants receive hands-on tailoring and stitching practice, including: - fabric measurement; - use of sewing equipment; - basic garment preparation; - stitching techniques; - repair and alteration practice; - completion of simple tailoring projects.
The programme aims to strengthen confidence, practical independence and livelihood readiness.
The practical skills developed through the programme may support future livelihood opportunities.
Rooted in Nayee Asha’s work with women from the Musahar community, the centre may also support other underserved women and adolescent girls according to need and available programme capacity.
